Workplace Highlights in Greater Milwaukee

As of August 2025, Milwaukee's job market is experiencing mixed signals. While the metropolitan area has seen a 1.6% increase in total non-farm employment compared to pre-pandemic levels, indicating a steady recovery, the manufacturing sector is facing challenges. An economist from the University of Wisconsin-Madison anticipates that Wisconsin's manufacturing jobs will mirror the national decline observed in July, which saw weaker-than-expected job growth and revisions to previous months' data. In response to these challenges, initiatives like Employ Milwaukee's expanded manufacturing skills training program aim to equip up to 600 individuals with the necessary skills to thrive in the evolving job market.
