Workplace Highlights in Central New York

Private-sector employment in the Syracuse metro area rose by approximately 6,000 jobs (2.3%) year over year, reaching more than 263,400 jobs as of August 2025. The strongest growth was seen in education and health services, leisure and hospitality, and professional/business services, reflecting steady regional hiring momentum. The unemployment rate remains low at 3.5%, while manufacturing continues to grow more modestly compared to service sectors.
