Networking Goals are Good but we need Systems to Connect
A bad system for networking will beat a good networker every time. A system to connect with people doesnāt have to be complicated, it just needs to be effective.

How many times have you heard ā¦
āSet a goalā
āBuild a systemā
āTrust the processā
This couldnāt be more true with networking.

The only problem is that a lot of people get as far as setting networking goals and then aimlessly scramble on their own to reach their respective goals and objectives.
Most people can't achieve anything entirely by themselves. A support system developed through networking can often be a game changer for a professional.
A goal is a desired outcome while your system is a series of strategic actions and habits you follow to reach your goals.
A good system will shorten the road to our networking goals.

Below are some examples of the different types of networking that can be done much better within a system:
Social networking - A system is needed to network on the largest platforms in the world, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and others while focusing on a target audience, niche strategies and defined tactics.
Business networking - When professionals pay to join a business networking group, they are paying to be part of a system that is designed to better utilize their networking time and maximize their networking activities.
Professional networking - LinkedIn provides the largest and most robust platform for your professional networking efforts. Some systems are built on top of LinkedIn premium accounts like Sales Navigator or Premium Business. Although, this past year, I built a system with my FREE Linked account that revolved around posting relevant content, listing events, joining target groups, and sending strategic connection requests which proved to be very effective.
Experimental networking - A relatively new term, this type of networking involves a lot of ātrial and errorā and requires a system that tracks results.
Strategic Networking - A combination of all the above, a system designed for this kind of networking may take a little more thought and effort but the long-term results are worth it.
In summary, goals are nice to have but the implementation of a system with small steps and continuous improvements is often what is needed to achieve your desired outcome.
James Clear, author of the book āAtomic Habitsā, said it best:

In regards to networking, we don't rise to the level of our goals with strategic networking; rather, we fall to the level of our system to connect with the right people.
