The Essential Strategy that Warren Buffett, The Beatles, and Jesus Intently Followed

These world-changing influencers had three distinct characteristics in common and proved that strategic networking is just as important today as it was over the past two thousand years.

There have been many important historical figures throughout time and then there are the few who have greatly influenced us to the extent of changing the world.

What do Warren Buffett, The Beatles, and Jesus have in common?

There are three core characteristics that each possessed:

  1. They are world-changers and arguably the GOAT (Greatest of all time) in what they did

  2. They had a massive following (and still do)

  3. They were masters at strategic networking

Wait, what? Strategic networking?

Well, let’s take a look…

Warren Buffett, the man that always says “no” to superficial networking, focuses on building strategic relationships.

“You will move in the direction of the people you associate with. So it’s important to associate with people that are better than yourself… you want to associate with people who are the kind of person you’d like to be”

Warren Buffet

With his network, Warren Buffet has become one of the most influential business leaders of our time.

The Beatles, the band that wrote the song “With a little help from my friends”, practiced what they preached (or should I say sang).

Paul met John through networking at a church social. George was introduced to John by Paul (what a a great referral!). Ringo later connected with the band while networking at other gigs around town.

Inc. Magazine recently published an insightful article on The Beatles that showed the value of strong connections and the power of a strategic partnership:

The release this week of "Now and Then" -- the very last Beatles song -- is a powerful demonstration of what artificial intelligence can do. But for anyone starting or running a business, it's an even bigger lesson in the power of partnership. And how a strong enough partnership can last even beyond the grave.

Inc Magazine, Nov 4, 2023

Working together, the Beatles changed the music world.

Need more proof that strategic networking played a vital role throughout history?

Believe it or not, the Bible has a lot to say about strategic networking and the value of connecting with people.

In the Old Testament, the wise King Solomon observed the value of strategic networking in business:

Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

In the New Testament, strategic networking and connecting was even more important.

Jesus strategically built his network of twelve disciples carefully, prayerfully, and thoughtfully.

Did he select the most knowledgeable and religious men (the Pharisees)?

No.

Did he work with those who focused on wealth and power (the Sadducees)?

No.

He picked the poor and humble fishermen to help save the world. He was after their hearts, not their minds.

His strategy was to connect people by sending a powerful message that only a network of humble servants with loving hearts and spiritual meekness could do.

Are you networking strategically?
