DEEP DIVE
โญ Featured Article

The Future Isnโ€™t Webinars. Itโ€™s Netwinars.

Professionals are ditching standard Zoom calls and virtual networking events for netwinars that spark collective learning, deeper engagement, and meaningful relationships.

Forget webinars, netwinars are the new virtual networking powerhouse.

Just think about it โ€ฆ

How many times have you attended a webinar that turned into one long sales pitch?

Or finished a session without connecting with a single person?

While no one can predict the future of networking, one thing is certain โ€ฆ

It wonโ€™t look anything like it does today.

During Covid, online networking exploded. But since then, it hasnโ€™t evolved much.

Today, professionals have three main options:

  • Virtual networking

  • Webinars

  • Netwinars

Letโ€™s take a closer look at what each really offersโ€ฆ

๐Ÿค Virtual Networking

Virtual networking works like traditional networking, but it happens online. It allows you to meet and connect with professionals anywhere, instantly, and from the comfort of your own home.

  • Description: Online gatherings where professionals connect, exchange ideas, and build relationships using digital platforms instead of in-person events.

  • Format: Can be structured or unstructured and often includes breakout rooms, roundtable discussions, speed networking, Q&A, or informal mingling.

  • Purpose: To help professionals expand their network without geographical limitations and help facilitate introductions, collaborations, partnerships, and mentorships.

  • Examples: Virtual Happy Hours, Speed Networking Events, Industry-Specific Meetups, and LinkedIn Audio Events

Easy connections can be deceiving. Virtual networking makes it easy to meet many people, but that convenience often comes at the cost of depth. Connections can feel shallow, impersonal, and fleeting, with little opportunity to build trust or meaningful relationships.

Limited nonverbal cues and distractions make conversations less engaging, while the lack of structured follow-up means most contacts never develop into real opportunities. Over time, this can lead to networking fatigue, leaving professionals feeling overwhelmed yet unconnected.

๐Ÿ’ป Webinars

A webinar is a live online event, similar to an in-person seminar, where a presenter or panel shares information with an audience over the internet.

  • Description: Online versions of seminars (short for web-based seminars).

  • Format: Live or recorded presentations delivered virtually through Zoom, Teams, GoToWebinar, and other platforms.

  • Purpose: Same as seminars, which include education, training, or discussion, but are more accessible since attendees join remotely.

  • Examples: A product demo over Zoom, an online panel discussion, or a professional development course delivered virtually

Webinars have several drawbacks:

  1. Low engagement / passive experience โ€“ Most webinars are lecture-style, leaving attendees to just sit and listen instead of participating.

  2. One-way communication โ€“ Limited real-time interaction, which makes it feel more like a presentation than a conversation.

  3. Generic content โ€“ Often repurposed, surface-level material with little personalization.

  4. Limited networking opportunities โ€“ Attendees rarely meet each other, reducing the value beyond the content.

  5. Hard to differentiate โ€“ Thousands of webinars compete for attention, with so many feeling like just another โ€œonline lecture.โ€

๐Ÿ‘‰ Webinars promise connection and community, but often deliver content and convenience instead.

๐Ÿ’ป โž• ๐Ÿค Netwinars

Welcome to the world of netwinars.

Netwinars are reinventing the way professionals learn and connect.

What is a netwinar?

A Netwinar is an interactive virtual event that blends learning, networking, and collaboration. It is designed to foster both personal and professional growth.

  • Description: Combines the best features of webinars and virtual networking.

  • Format: Live session where participants interact virtually through Zoom.

  • Purpose: For participants to learn, connect, and grow.

  • Examples: A group of professionals who meet online to share ideas, exchange referrals, ask for help, and provide support to one another.

My inspiration for creating netwinars was to bring a fresh, exciting way to learn and connect online.

โžก๏ธ Inside the Netwinar Experience

Hereโ€™s what participants can expect:

  1. Mini-network - A curated group of professionals, with each assigned a personalized poll.

  2. Mini-workshops - Each participant introduces themselves, shares a tip, discusses challenges, and asks for help in solving problems.

  3. Shared results - Everyone โ€œwinsโ€ by seeing actionable insights offered by each attendee who participates.

๐Ÿ’ฅ The Secret Sauce of a Successful Netwinar

Every netwinar thrives on the proper FIT:

  • Flexible - Are there a lot of participants? Or only a few? Netwinars adjust for group size, whether they are small or large, to deliver the best possible experience.

  • Interactive - Are the participants engaged and interacting? Or are they multitasking or bored? Engagement is mandatory.

  • Trackable - Are the participants able to track their results? You canโ€™t act on what you donโ€™t track. For example:

    • What was the number of connections they made?

    • What were the types of referrals they generated?

    • How many opportunities were converted into sales?

Because you canโ€™t improve what you donโ€™t measure, the Zoom Advanced Polls capture and track the data that matters most.

โœ… The Takeaway

Professionals want a faster, smarter, and more structured way to connect.

Netwinars deliver:

  • Learn something new every time.

  • Connect with the people who matter.

  • Grow faster personally, professionally, and beyond.

Why netwinars work:

  • More meaningful networking

  • Less time wasted

  • Build deeper relationships in half the time

Recent attendees describe netwinars as:

  • โ€œLife-changingโ€

  • โ€œIncredibly efficientโ€

  • โ€œFun and energizing!โ€

Ready to see it in action for yourself?

Join us at one of our upcoming netwinars.

Weโ€™d love to have you there.
